Bro. Chuck Akers and his family have dedicated their life to the cause of spreading the gospel in Venezuela.
We began making trips in and out of Venezuela in 1991, then in 1994 we moved here permanently. The Lord had burdened our heart for the spiritual condition of the huge capital city of Caracas, which has a population of approximately 6 - 8 million people. And it didn't take long for Him to direct our hearts to the barrios (slum or ghetto areas) that surround the city. One of the barrios in particular was placed upon our hearts, the barrio of Las Torres. Murder, robbery, witchcraft, drugs, prostitution, etc, were everyday affairs in the neighborhood. It was not unusual to see young teen boys carrying pistols and many other types of arms and not be afraid to use them. We knew that this neighborhood was in desperate need of a church. We didn't have a facility to have services with and so we started along side the road. From there over the years God has blessed us with a wonderful church building and souls that have responded to the message of salvation. Besides pastoring that local church, we have been involved in children's crusades, prison ministry, and evangelist work in other parts of the city and the country. The city of Caracas is a huge metropolitan city that draws people from all over Venezuela, the continent of South America, and the Caribbean Islands who are searching for work and riches. It is our desire and prayer that we reach many of these varied people groups so that they can in turn reach their own people with the same message that they have received. God bless. Chuck Akers
